My School Experience
I entered this school in the middle of last year, 2011/2012. I came from a Portuguese school and, because of the difference in the type of education CLIB provides to its students when compared to typical Portuguese public school, it was a big change. I felt I was in a new world with new and different people, which I enjoyed actually.
I want to study mechanical engineering at FEUP, Porto. I think CLIB provides me with all I need to do so, and I’m really putting a big effort into it. What I can say about my experience is that it was great studying at CLIB. People who want to be successful in CLIB really have to study a lot to achieve their objectives, which will definitely be worth it.

My experience in Portugal
My Experience in Portugal
At first it was quite hard to make my decision to move to Portugal, but I know it was for the best. The main reason was for my football career. After all, we have to take risks for what we love and hope in some time, that decision will benefit you.
I really miss my family, though I still keep my positive thoughts since I will see them in the holidays. Once my father told me, "dedication is the key to success"; that always comes to my head whenever I feel that I'm not capable of doing something and it gives me the strength to do it.
Today I feel like I'm stronger and as each day goes on I feel like I'm closer to my objectives at school and at football, of course. I always keep my hopes up for a positive future in what I love. People here are very helpful and supportive, especially whenever you need it most. I made friends faster than I expected.
I'm really happy here, I feel like it's the best choice I have made for myself, Although my family really does mean everything to me: my parents and my brothers are my world, I couldn't ask for a better family.
"Set your goals high and don't give up until you get there."

Pay It Forward
Pay It Forward
Pay It Forward is an initiative that encourages students to make a difference, and therefore, just as the slogan of the
project puts it, to 'be the change'. During this academic year, we intend to do several kind activities, so that the CLIB
community can become more kind and welcoming.
The pioneer activity launched by the Pay It Forward project was the better life initiative. It started during kindness week
and the main message that we wanted to pass on was that, with little good deeds we can make someone's life happier.
People shouldn't do good deeds just because it looks nice in public, no!! We want to make people aware that we can do
a good deed at any time, anywhere, as long as we are predisposed to do it without thinking of what others will say about
the action ...
Our current activity is the wall of kindness. As CLIB students, we feel that there is a need for students to express
themselves ... thus, we created the wall of kindness which is a wall where students are free to post positive messages.
The messages could be about anything, for example, a special acknowledgment to staff (D. Lourdes, Sofia, D. Gloria,
etc) who work hard every day towards our comfort, or, even more simply, post a positive thought like : “The first to
apologize is the bravest, the first to forgive is the strongest, and the first to forget is the happiest.”
The messages need to be written in a post-it and then glued to the wall.
This way we can make a change in students expressing their emotions and interacting with each other, as well as
embellishing the school's walls.
We hope you enjoy this activity and will be proactive in it!
And do not forget, BE THE CHANGE!

JAP - Another Success! Interviews to "Big Bang" and "Vinci"
Like most of you know, this year JAP students from forms 10 & 11 participated and both got qualified! One in first place, Big Bang Enterprise and in third place, Vinci Enterprise (Utoping Network, Shown Below).
So we asked for a chat with them about their amazing products and how they got there, here are the details.
How did the idea appear?
During a meeting, Nuno Pacheco ( the finance director ) had the idea of the product ‘virtual bag’ and the name Big Bang. The team composed by Helena Domingues ( human resources director ), Mafalda Anjos ( marketing director ), Nuno Pacheco ( finance director ) and Gonçalo Lopes (
president and operations director ) had to study well their idea and had to create their product. They also had the idea of creating a tooth-brush with tooth-paste inside! But unfortunatly the idea didn’t work...
Testing the product
To test the product, the team had to do market research. They could either form a questionnaire or look for one in the internet. They did the questionnaire to diferent people. To spread the product they had to make some leaflets with information about the product.
Big Bang- The Name
Nuno chose the name Big Bang with the message of being inovators and
creators of the new futre. Mafalda Anjos afirmed “ Our motto, ‘It ends
when it started’ means that when the Big Bang ended, a new world was
formed, that’s what we would like to happen with our product, a new and
good idea that would change the future”.
Choosing the functions
Gonçalo Lopes said “ We chose our functions according to people’s
qualities:
Helena ( human resources director) was chosen to have this function
because she was the best with languages, I was chosen to be the
president and operation director because my voice is loud and clear and
I have good leadership skills. Nuno ( finance director ) was chosen to have this function according to his passion for maths and, finally Mafalda ( marketing director ) was chosen to have this function according to her creativity.”
The last step was to go to Lisbon in order to compete agaist diferente
enterprises. The students were able to speak during 4 minutes and had 8
minutes for questions, they organised themselves according to their
functions. This competition was created by ACCENTURE. The top 10 mini
corporations that passed to the final could show their product to the
juries. The team that won ( in this case Big Bang) would have the opportunity
to go to Latvia representing Portugal. The advantage of going to Latvia is that there are many people that
can invest in the product.
The team afirmed “ We can’t wait to go to Latvia...”.
